HI Barbara.Your talking about two different worlds.Todays homeless are(maybe) displaced,or dopers,or welfare sceamers.Bums were guys(and gals) who wanted to just suck up whatever booze they could get,think the Bowery.The back of Tremont was always littered with wine/booze bottles.They also drank Sterno.Our fearless city once tried to get them into"pills",they thought that would be a good "fix". Wellit wasn't ,the bums sold the downers to us white bread guys/gals. Then they use the money to visit the liquor store. BTW, I never had bad thoughts about bums.Today'd homeless is another story
