Although Castle Hill Avenue is completely flat without a hill, the "palisaded fort" that was first seen by the Dutch settlers who called it a "KASTEEL" (the Dutch word for "Castle") became known as "Castle Hill". In other words, the street called "Castle Hill Avenue" was simply named for the palisaded (fortified) fort/ castle by the Dutch settlers, even though there is no castle or hill along that roadway today.
