Many years ago,on a Saturday, my cat died. I called the ASPCA and asked them what actions I should take. They told me to bring the cat downtown and they will take care of it. How do you transport a dead cat on the subway? I found an old suitcase, put the dead cat in it, and my wife and I got on the D train. As we reached our stop, 42nd Street, we got up to exit the train. A passenger on the train arose, approached us, and asked if he could help carry the valise. Without waiting for an answer he put his hands on the suitcase and started walking with us. He started walking faster and faster and then started running away with the suitcase. I started chasing him but stopped saying to myself----why am I chasing after a dead cat in a suitcase? My wife and I crossed over to the uptown side and went home on the same nickel.
