I grew up in the 40s & 50s on Morris Ave; that's all you had to say because it was the original little Italian enclave. It was only about 3 blocks long from 149th to 153rd, & not more than 2 blocks wide from Park Ave & Cortland Ave. That was the length of the annual Feast put on in June by the Ponzi's who came from the Isle of Ponzi, a small island off the coast near Rome & settled around Morris Ave. They appeared to be all successful honest, hardworking businessmen in construction who built the church, OLP, & were the leaders of the neighborhood.
