"Salugi" (probably the preferred spelling) was a "game" - if you could call it that - which was rampant when I was a kid in the thirties and forties in all parts of the Bronx. You - or a bunch of guys (girls didn't do it but I didn't know any girls then) simply grabbed someone's possession - usually a ball or a book or a bookbag - and formed a group to keep it from you getting it back, tossing it overhead, hiding it and generally being quite unpleasant about it hollering "Salugi, Salugi" - until- I forget how it was resolved but you probably got it back a little worn out for the experience. I'm curious 80 years later about the word "Salugi"...Italian?
