Hi, Linda!

Barnes Avenue near Williamsbridge Road is only three blocks east of Cruger Avenue where I grew up during the 1940s and 50s. I know that area very well because our synagogue (Jewish Center of Williamsbridge) was located on Barnes Avenue, immediately south of Williamsbridge Road. That neighborhood had many more private homes than apartment buildings. My Cruger Avenue block had ALL private homes including my two-family house, and only ONE corner apartment building! I do not recognize the apartment buildings in the photo, but they COULD still be in that neighborhood on another block near Barnes Avenue and Williamsbridge Road where your husband grew up.

Best of luck with your guess, Linda,..and THANKS for "bringing me back" to my old Allerton Avenue/ White Plains Road neighborhood!
