Thanks so much for asking me to explain my reason for correctly locating the Riverside Diner`s former location. I had ALWAYS known that River Avenue has only TWO elevated train stations: 161st Street and 167th Street. When I read some CORRECT guesses of the Diner`s location as being somewhere on River Avenue, north of Yankee Stadium (161st Street) I couldn`t help but think of the 167th Street station and the intersection below it, as THE ONLY OTHER POSSIBLE location of the Diner. It wasn`t through web sleuthing, but rather, through logic! "On or close to the northwest corner" was purely a wild guess. Although, like you, Chris, I never knew about the Riverside Diner but I am well familiar with that stretch of River Avenue. Besides my going to Yankee Stadium, my family doctor`s office was on Walton Avenue, two blocks north of River Avenue the 161st Street station. Also, in July, 1965, my wife and I got married at the Park Terrace on River Avenue and 162nd Street, diagonally across from Yankee Stadium.
