Sometimes life can seem really tough… even seem really bad.
It can make you furious… it can make you sad.
But with every darkness there soon comes a dawn.
And a little light starts to shine through… come the next morn.
So, when things seem down… when things get rough.
You need to hang in there… you need to hang tough.
There’s no sense fretting… there’s no sense whining.
With any luck at all… every dark cloud has a silver lining.
So if life seems rough and it’s getting you down…
Always remember… that to brighten your dark cloud just reverse your frown.
‘Cause days growing up in the Bronx were the greatest, the best.
So put your sad memories to bed… to rest.
Think back on those days when you thought your world would never end.
When you were hangin’ out in the Bronx with your buddies and best friends.
Your only thoughts were bein’ with them… and everyday was great.
Knowing you had true friends with which you could have fun and relate.
See the point being made here… what this poem is striving to say…
Is that when life gets you down don’t let the negative stand in your way.
See we Bronxites are tough, resilient, with character true.
We’ll always get by, push on, and come through.
I think it’s our youthful experiences that make us so strong.
Learning how to live with many different cultures… learning how to get along.
So hold your head high and to them that will listen be sure to tell…
‘Bout your youthful experiences, good times, and Bronx tales as well.
As sure as darkness is followed by light…
Your old Bronx memories will make you feel alright. :>)
Always look on the bright side… and remember your Bronx roots!
