Hi, Raanan!

Although I have no recollections of what it was like to ride the Putnam Railroad, I DO have recollections of what it was like to take many walks alongside its remaining track inside Van Cortlandt Park! During the late 1960s, years after passenger service had terminated, my wife and I were living on Bailey Avenue, diagonally across the street from the entrance to the park on Van Cortlandt Park South. I remember looking at the decaying remains of the Putnam Railroad`s Van Cortlandt station before continuing with my walk alongside the track. A VERY slow occasional freight train was STILL running there at that time, and I was always very careful to step far away from the track whenever I would see it approaching from well in the distance.

Thanks for the memory!
