Cruger Avenue, in the Allerton/ White Plains Road neighborhood where I grew up, does not have a name change; however, between Bronxdale Avenue and Sagamore Street in the Van Nest section, it has an additional name, REGIS PHILBIN AVENUE, honoring the famous television personality who grew up there. Although Regis passed away last July at the age of 88, the new Regis Philbin Avenue street signs had already been added to the existing Cruger Avenue street signs during his lifetime.
