School Diversity

Posted by Ted on Thursday, December 3rd 2020:

All 3 of my Bronx public schools were woefully non-diverse. (I'm intentionally not naming them here.) There were a few non-whites in each school and obviously my neighborhoods more or less accounted for this. In junior high, my best friend was black, and he was one of only 3 I recall in the entire school in the late 50s. When I think back on it, I wonder if that was the general experience for most of us, and how it played out later in our lives.
