The mention of the Catholic Protectory brings back the memory of one of those children who lived there. For whatever reason he was taken from there to live with my grandparents and my Dad. He was like a member of their family growing up but I don't think he was ever adopted. As far as we knew he was "in our family" until he died many years later. His name was Tom Frey. He married but never had children so he's still a mystery to me.
