Hey Barbara.Crab Shanty, that's kinda 1970s>Anyway,I think that there are countless buildings/stores still standing and working.Look deeper than the new signs. Look behind the new facade.Look and feel what YOU remember being there.
Our past is just that. But the Bronx is still there, still growing. The boon is slow, really slow. But the Bronx is(and always was) a piece of NYC.THat alone will keep it going. The current people, well some could use a dose of manners and a shot of high octane brain. But most of us remember quite a few people who needed some of that.Cruse down the Concourse,Drive up Bpston Rd from 149 St.Movie houses have been dead in most of urban citys, just like the Bronx. But in the Bronx,in most cases, you will know the building. All the parks are still there, and better.Think of the lower east side. In my day ,it was the dump of dumps. Well a large portion of it still is. But now the dump is $2500, for a studio.Get in the car and drive. Forget the press/hollywood B.S. .Yes there are crap holes, but almost all American cities have them.Throw an Doo-Wopp CD in and cruse.
