I have so many wonderful memories of Parkchester. The Oval, Metropolitan Ave at Christmas, the many carnivals during the summer, The lovely people but mostly the man we all called Uncle MoMo who would push his wagon up and down the streets daily. His wagon was filled with the most incredible collectibles one can think of. He had pots, pans, umbrellas, fruit, empty milk bottles, baseball memorabilia like Yankee hats and balls, as well as an assortment of plants that looked like they came from The Botanical Gardens. I can still picture him standing at the foot of The EL station with is hat in his hand and a cup which people would put change in until the cops came along and chased him away. I wonder how he's doing?
