In 1964 there were three [count 'em} three storefront Conservative clubs on Webster Ave, between Fordham Rd. and E.204th st.I was 15 and working hard for Barry Goldwater for president I handed out fliers at the stadium after a football Giants game.I rode in an open convertible with a parade of cars pushing Goldwater in the Arthur Ave. area.We hung a humongous Goldwater sign from the telephone wires on our block. We actually thought he was going to win!!!Too bad he didn't ,we might very well have avoided the whole Viet Nam miasma.
