We lived in Newburgh, NY, in 1040 - displaced Bronxites so I suppose that may allow me to post now - but that year Newburgh was selected to be the test bed for the new invention and several folks had the first primitive TVs! The picture tube faced upward in the installation and was viewed with a slanted mirror pointed toward the viewer. After the war, we were back in the Bronx and when I went off to college in '47 (73 years ago today, as a matter of fact) my folks soon had a Dumont in the living room for me to admire and I guess the rest is history. Thanks for the memory!
