In 1947 my uncle, an electrical engineer, another uncle and my father built three tv’s based on the RCA 630 design. My uncle was able to get the parts including the hard to get tuner, It had a 10” CRT and the cost was about half of the $400 retail cost. Probably $ 4000 in today’s dollars. We had it for several years getting only four channels.
