Thanks for responding, Mark! During the years that I grew up in the Allerton Avenue/White Plains Road neighborhood (from 1941 to 1952) there was no Allerton Avenue bus that continued "crosstown" through Bronx Park and further west along Bedford Park Boulevard. During the 40s and early 50s, I remember The Allerton Avenue bus route that ran only from White Plains Road to Westervelt Avenue. I lived on Cruger Avenue, a half block north of Allerton.

When you mentioned that your high school was Bronx Science, I was thinking of the "old" Bronx Science on 184th Street, rather than the present one further north. That is why I thought we both took the same bus that ran from Pelham Parkway into Fordham Road. My trip to Music and Art took about an hour with the bus and train.

Stay healthy and safe!
Sammy
