Did You Walk Far To Get to Your Nearest Park?

My nearest park was Bronx Park, only four blocks from my Cruger Avenue home in the Allerton/White Plains Road neighborhood. Since Bronx Park served so many other neighborhoods which surrounded it, I have to believe that some of you who post on this Board also had a short walk to get to it. Those who lived near the Bronx Zoo and Botanical Garden were lucky to have the extra "benefit" of living near Bronx Park.

With so many large parks throughout The Bronx, such as Crotona Park, Pelham Bay Park, Van Cortlandt Park and Bronx Park, was it a long walk or short walk for you to get to them? In addition to those parks, I know that smaller neighborhood parks were scattered throughout just about every neighborhood in The Bronx which makes me believe that, unless I am wrong, none of us had no more than a few blocks to walk to them. What was the name of your neighborhood park? Was it large or small? How far did you have to walk to get to it from your home? Any memories to share?
