Yes, Bob, I have Mc Namara`s book and am glad to give you the information about Albany Crescent. Here it is:

"ALBANY CRESCENT. During Colonial and Revolutionary times, this was an important junction of the Albany Post Road and the Boston Post Road, and was the scene of many battles from 1776 onward. During the 19th century, Kingsbridge old-timers referred to it as Boston Hill. The present name was acquired in 1913. In 1922, the name Barry Street was proposed for Albany Crescent, but was not approved".

During the late 1960s, my wife and I lived on Bailey Avenue, not far from Albany Crescent. I`m glad that it`s name wasn`t changed to "Barry Street" which would have been an "insult" to its Crescent shape (lol) especially going down the hill from Heath Avenue, then sharply turning onto Bailey Avenue and finally winding across and around the area of 231st Street.
