Didn't we have fun with all those great little "Be My Valentine" mini-cards ? I think you had to tear them apart on the perforations, not a great job for little grubby kiddy hands. They were cheap, colorful and almost always accompanied with chalky candy hearts with messages on them.
THEN there was George Washington's Birthday -- which is now a changeable date and is President's Day instead. But remember the 22 cent sales? And the mobs of people lining up to be the first one to buy a very used car for 22 cents? I remember one year the car had to be pushed off the lot but it was a...'49 Merc!! Did the buyer KNOW what he had?? If only I was old enough to drive back then!!!
