World War11 recollections

Among my childhood Bronx memories of WW11 were lights-out evening drills as a precaution against a possible enemy air attack. Also that car headlight were blackened on their upper half to minimize upward reflection.

I also remember the rationing of food and the long lines at stores when word spread that a delivery of sugar or other household staple was soon expected.

Any Bronx Board old-timers have similar recollections?
