My wife graduated from the NY Foundling Hospital Nursing Program in the 60's. As mentioned by Acrany it was in the 60's in Manhattan. But, she says they never took kids out as decribed. However, maybe as a little kid Kathleen didn't know she was still in the Bronx because the Kennedy Home also took in kids from broken homes etc. This Home was one block north of Pelham Parkway near Eastchester Rd and it was run by Nuns back in the same time frame. My family knew some children living there and I also knew an employee or two during that period. Maybe that's the Home.
