Mary, we know our favorite part was Castle Hill. To answer Sammy, I'm pretty sure one of my grandparents was in the BX before 1898 because my father was born in the southbx (138 ST area) in 1911. His mother was born in Ireland and I was told that his 3 siblings were all born before him there. I know that my father's father was also born in the Bx, so that puts us into the BX about 20 years before 1898, I guess. My maternal grandparents were here in 1900 because my Godmother/an aunt was born that year in Manhattan. A few more kids later then they moved to the Middletown Rd area of the Bx. Someday I'll spend a few bucks and do a real geneaology search.
