Ha. Being Jewish, my parents took us for Chinese food more than any other ethnic food, even more than the kosher deli. Unfortunately, their term for it (and also for the Chinese laundry) was pretty racist. My mother would say "We're having chinks tonight" or "Let's eat chinks." Growing up, my sister and I just accepted it as a nickname for "Chinese" and not a slur. I always thought it was spelled chinx until I later found out what it really referred to.
