Bought a switchblade (also known as a gravity knife) in Times Square on W 42nd street when I was a teenager. Had it wrapped up and took it back to my girlfriend's home (she was one tough hombre). Opened the package, but could not flick it open. She took it, and said "like this" and flipped it out. In comes her mother, smoking a cigarette. I though it was curtains for the relationship. The girl goes, look, Mommy, as switchblade". Without moving her cigarette, or saying a word, she takes it and flicks it open. Needless to say, I was humiliated.
