It amazes and saddens me when I think back on how ubiquitous weapons were as part of Bronx street life in the 50s. And it was definitely a boy thing. We had pea shooters, sling shots, chalk-in-a-sock, carpet guns, paper clip guns, "switch blades" made of pop sticks and rubber bands, and more. Some of these were sold legitimately in candy stores. Did I miss any?
