Though I had many very good teachers and think fondly on many of them at St Helena Elementary and High School (SHHS), the one who stands out was Larry Sullivan. At that time he was A Marist Brother, BRO Stephen Laurence, who took on the task of teaching many different courses. He was my home room teacher and also taught Theology & Latin as I recall. I was always happy to hear that he would be the teacher for a course I took. He was firm but fair and also had a great sense of humor.Life went on and he moved on to teaching at a college level in Poughkeepsie, NY. We reconnected about 10 years ago via alumni from SHHS. Christmas cards and emails and he even was a member/participant on the Bronxboard. About a year ago, out of the blue, he called from a rehab hospital saying he had fallen down stairs into his basement. We talked and laughed and I wished him well. he died a week later at age 85. Apparantly I was not the only one who thought highly of him. At his funeral TV and radio celebrity Bill o'Reilly did his eulogy.
