The building with the window at the apex of the turn was called "Hotel Bronx" during the years that I rode past it and, like you, could almost reach out and touch it! My home station on the Lexington Avenue/White Plains Road subway line (now the #2 train) was Allerton Avenue from 1941 to 1952, then Pelham Parkway from 1952 to 1955. I remember standing at the front door (next to the motorman`s booth), looking out the window and preparing myself for the "BIG CRASH"!!!
