I worked in the Carrol's Drive In on Central Avenue in the 1960's. Charlie Eisenburg was the owner. He owned the one in Queens and the other one was in Riverdale. Nineteen cents a hamburger. His fries were made the old fashioned way: russet potatoes. The grill made 50 burgers at a time! I started out on the grill. Mr Eisenburg used to vacation in Miami. One year down there, he found the Whopper being sold and brought the Whopper to Yonkers. We were the first to makle the Whopper up North. It tasted a lot better!
