167th St. Cafeteria on 167th Street between River and Gerard Avenues was the closest one. We ate there 99% of the time we went to a cafeteria. As I got older it was a good place to sober up after a night of drinking at Chick's three store fronts down or anytime. I don't think it ever closed. The owner lived there and was killed during a robbery one evening sometime during the '70s I believe. Loved the open roast beef sandwiches and seltzer form the water fountain.

Sometimes after a movie at the Earl my friends and I would go to the 161st Cafeteria on 161st and River Ave.
