A few weeks ago,I posted a few lines about pre-war buildings. Mine was built in 1927-28. A five story walk-up (no elevator) four rooms on the fifth floor at
1990-96 Gleason Ave corner of Pugsley Ave in Unionport /Soundview.
Although I left over 50 years ago (courtesy of "Uncle Sam") I can to this day, close my eyes and visualize every room, nook, cranny and every corner of my parents old apartment. I still have one piece of furniture and a box of 8mm home movies of the family my dad took back in the 1950's.
Check out Google maps and click on street view and you can get a pretty good up-to-date picture of the old neighborhood. The stores have changed but the 90 year old building still looks pretty good.
