Where Was Your Favorite Bronx Shortcut?

I had two shortcuts which I used very often in my Allerton neighborhood. My nearest shortcut was a path leading down to White Plains Road through an open lot which bordered on the backyard of my Cruger Avenue house. That shortcut enabled me to save a lot of time getting to the Allerton Avenue elevated subway station, Zimmerman Playground and Bronx Park, all within a few minutes from my backyard gate. The other shortcut which I always used to save time walking to P.S. 96 was located in an open lot between White Plains Road and Olinville Avenue.

Did you have a favorite shortcut? If so, where was it located?
