In the 1950s if you fished in the Bronx River (Bronx Park) you could catch carp on bread balls. Some of these fish were huge. However they are an invasive species and thus not native to the Bronx.
If you could go back to the 1500s before the European's settled the area what were the native fish in the Bronx River and other surrounding waterways?
