In the 50's, 60's and 70's Tremont from Webster to West Farms was the third largest shopping area in my opinion. Fordham Rd. and 149th. and 3rd. Ave were bigger. However, in the 50's the busiest per square foot may have been the Bathgate Ave. market which was from 174st. to Claremont Parkway. The Arthur Ave. shopping area was also quite busy.
