Did we have a choice of which High School one attended? E.g. Taft, Monroe, Roosevelt, Columbus, Evander, Morris ...

or was there a designated High School for the section and street that you lived on in the Bronx? Could your parents make a stink about one High School or another for you in which they wanted you to get into and could they win?

In any case did it really make a difference since we all had to pass the same regents exams?
