BRONX COMPANIES - GONE FROM HERE BUT STILL AROUND

Posted by Saul Weber on Sunday, November 4th 2018:

When we look around there are several well-known companies which are still around but have left their roots here in The Bronx:

HAAGEN DAZS ice cream from the Hunts Point Area in 1961 now in Oakland, California and now part of General Mills.

STELLA D'ORO cookies around W237th Street and Broadway in 1930 until 1992 when the family sold the company for around $100 million dollars. Anyone walking on Broadway could smell the aroma of the items being baked. They also had an Italian restaurant right near the staircase coming down for the IRT 230th Street station. The old BX20 West Farms bus and the old BX38 University Avenue stopped literally at their doorsteps.

Can anyone else recall any other Bronx companies that have left their BRONX ROOTS to go elsewhere ???
