True enough. Neighborhood was original Irish-Catholic and Jewish. Like many areas the older residents died off and were not replaced by their children who had already moved away. My aunt and grand-father still lived on my block when I was growing up (My mom stayed on the block until her death but 2 of her 3 sisters had already moved away and my fathers 3 brothers, 3 cousins, and sister and went away also....
My parochial school, Our Lady of Victory, was no longer a Catholic school and was barely still an operating church. The buildings are still there but the life and vitality of the neighborhood was gone.
