Yes, the river and the entire area was named for Bronck, but he only dwelt on the land for 3-4 years, it wasn't a manor, he wasn't royalty and he didn't do anything noteworthy or heroic so it seems odd. Also, the river was called 'Aquahung' (river of high places) by the native peoples. Ah history...so many questions.
