A Bronx Encounter in a Corset Store in Maryland

Not just ANY encounter, but this!!

On my way home from a picnic on a small farm in Silver Spring Maryland, I passed a Corset Shop that was nearby – Wow!! I had no idea they still made these things! (Nonna Lucia had a whole wardrobe of them – Sis and I were petrified to think we’d have to wear those things when WE grew up, LOL)

SO… After circling the area (blocks and blocks) before finally finding a parking space, I walk into the corset shop, only because I had never seen one in this area before -- when I mentioned the corset Dept in Alexander's in the Bronx, I heard a customer gasp and say “Oh My God!”. The customer was from the Bronx, graduated from my very own JHS 135 in 1969. Her sister also graduated there, 1964. I have no doubt that my sis and I passed her sis in the halls of 135. The woman was IMPECCABLY dressed, gorgeous, elegant — and here I was, looking like Oscar Madison (LOL) just coming from a picnic on a farm, bare-armed, and with all six of my tattoos blazing away.

I am awestruck. If I had not spent so much time trying to find parking, perhaps this outcome would have been different.

This has happened before—In Rockville, three people came up to me in a restaurant and said “Please take our picture!” Well, I had to comment on their Bronx Accent—turns out the lady in the group graduated from JHS 135 in 1965.
