Was A Carnival Held In Your Neighborhood?

During the summers of my growing up years of the 1940s and early 50s, a very big carnival took place on the southeast corner of Gun Hill Road and White Plains Road where there was a wide open lot that had been transformed into a mini-amusement park! In addition to the standard rides such as the "Merry-Go Round", "Ferris Wheel" and "Whip" there were other rides and attractions. That entire lot on which the carnival took place is now the location of today`s Gun Hill Houses.

If you went to a carnival in your neighborhood, where was it held? Any memories to share?
