I remember the trolley cars that ran down St. Ann's Ave. (I lived between Brook and St. Ann's on l47th st.). I think they may have stopped sometime in the late l940's. My brothers and their friends would hitch on the back of the trolleys and ride as far as they could before they were chased off. Two boys, one on my block and one around the corner, both fell and lost a leg. Ironically, they both had the same first name....Walter. That could be one of the reasons they were replaced by buses, safety factor.
