My "home" station was technically W242nd street - the end of the Broadway/7th Avenue subway (no numbers in those days) BUT...when I got to the end of the line, I had to take the C trolley north to the end if ITS line at W262nd street (or one of the Yonkers trolleys). When I was a high school freshman in 1943, I went to the Saint Bernard's annex of Cardinal Hayes HS which was at 13th street and 8th avenue way, way downtown, so I logged a lot of subway time by the time I was 14.
