DID YOU LIVE NEAR AN OPEN LOT?

Along with The Bronx`s many parks and playgrounds, the open lot was always there for our enjoyment. During my growing up years of the 1940s and early 50s, the gate of my Cruger Avenue backyard led out to the gigantic open lot of White Plains Road with its elevated subway tracks, between Allerton and Arnow Avenues. I was very lucky to have had the convenience of frequently exploring the lot and also using it as a shortcut to the Allerton Avenue station, Zimmerman Playground and Bronx Park.

If you lived near an open lot, where was it located? Any memories to share?
