Jim, I read about your uncle Matty previously, what an interesting story. I am also an alumni of St.Jerome's (1954). I lived on 138th St right across from the church. My 3 cousins older than me served in WWII 2 in the Army in Europe and 1 in the Navy South Pacific. They lived on the top floor we were on the 1st floor. Their names were Vinny, Tommy & Frank (Buster) Cunningham. I'm sure they must have known Matty but they have all passed on.

I still remember when my cousin Tommy came home I was only 5 or 6 years old at the time. He was coming up the stairs & the neighbors were out in the hall yelling Tommy is home, Tommy is home as my aunt Nellie waited on the top floor for her son.

My son, Sean, was with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan & Iraq. He is home now & engaged to be married. I was a "leg" in the U.S.Army 1961-1966. I look forward to reading your book be sure to give us a heads up on the title when it's released. Take care
