I had lived around 181st St & Vyse Ave in the 1950's. Back then the road was open up to the entrance to the Buffalo parking lot on the left. Named so because it had been the area where buffalo had been raised to re-populate the species. It was in this area that the buffalo on the back of the nickel lived.

Further up on the road on the right had been the "Farm in the Zoo." But I believe the entrance had been along Bronx Park East / Bronxdale Ave

In addition the #2 train up to the early 1950's had a spur which went right up to the entrance on Boston Road.
