Paul, I remember visiting relatives, including my maternal grandparents, who lived in your neighborhood on East 216th Street during the 1940s. They later moved to Carpenter Avenue and 227th Street. I have only happy memories of coming up to that neighborhood from Allerton Avenue. My family and I moved out of The Bronx to Flushing, Queens, in 1955 when I was 16. If I am not mistaken, both your neighborhood and mine were still doing well in the 50s.
