It was OFF-THE-CURB on the corner of East 175th street and Clay Avenue in the early 1950s. There was a sewer near home plate and occasionally someone missed the curb and threw the ball down the sewer. We then had to do some "Bronx Fishing" with a wire coat hanger with one end twisted into a loop to try and get our ball back.
