I was involved in a demonstration back in the days when I was in high school 70-73. But back then there was a demonstration for everything. I attended the High School of Music and Art. Our Sister School was Performing Arts. We had two or three ?? extra periods during the school day to cover our specialized classes.
The city wanted to eliminate our extra classes. The extra instruction was the purpose for attending those schools in the first place. We teamed up with our sister school and marched on city hall. The music end of my school performed concert in front of city hall. The art end of the school provided all the signs.
We had and excellent turn out. After our demonstration in front of city hall we marched across the Brooklyn Bridge to The Bd of Ed on Livingston St. Where we gave a repeat performance. Our extra periods were restored.
