My parents moved to Concourse Village (a Mitchell-Lama co-op like Co-op City) in 1968. The apartment on the 18th floor had a terrace facing north, so we overlooked the abandoned rail yards between Sheridan and Morris Avenues, but also saw clearly the Dollar Savings Bank clock near Fordham. I once had an Army buddy stay over, who lived in Indiana. He was quite impressed with the view.

But until we moved to Concourse Village, we lived in a street level apartment (actually below street level adjacent to the basement and superintendant's apartment). I never thought of terraces and envied nothing and nobody, which is still the case. I happen to know that no one's life is perfect.
